James Hatcher [Parents] was born in 1796 in , Greene , Tennessee. He died in 1865 in Nobels Lake, Pottawattamie, Iowa. He was buried in Branson Cemetery, Harrison , Iowa. He married Rebecca Frazier in 1823 in , Greene, Tennessee. They were sealed on 22 Apr 1993 in the Las Vegas Nevada temple.

It is not clear at this time if Jane is a daughter. We do know that Jane had died before 1850 leaving 2 daughters. Since James died intestate, these granddaughters would have been legal heirs IF they were alive or IF they could be found. It is not known at this time where they were in 1872. Jane may be a daughter of William and Sally Frazier. In the 1830 census for Sally there is an unidentified female who could be Jane. In the 1840 census for James we find 2 females believed to be Jane and Lucinda. Since Sally died before 1840, it is entirely possible that Jane was living with her uncle James until her marriage to William Asher. ---------------------------- James served in the War of 1812 as a Pvt in Capt Simeon Perry's Co, SevierCo, TN. It is not clear at this time if Jane is a daughter. We do know that Jane had died before 1850 leaving 2 daughters. Since James died intestate, these granddaughters would have been legal heirs IF they were alive or IF they could be found. It is not known at this time where they were in 1872. Jane may be a daughter of William and Sally Frazier. In the 1830 census for Sally there is an unidentified female who could be Jane. In the 1840 census for James we find 2 females believed to be Jane and Lucinda. Sir, In the pension claim of James Hatcher, No. 20520, a survivor of the War of 1812, under Act of Feby. 14, 1871, the claimant must file a new declaration, wherein the two identifying witnesses must be such as write their names. Declaration for Pension under Act of February 14, 1871 State of Kansas, County of Jefferson, ss: On this 4th day of January, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two personally appeared before me A G Patrick Clerk, of the above County a court of record within and for the county and State aforesaid, James Hatcher aged 76 years, a resident of county of Jefferson State of Kansas, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married; that his wife's name was Rebecca Frazier, to whom he was married at Greene County Tennessee on the 22nd day of March, 1815; that he served the full period of sixty days in the military service of the United States in the war of 1812; that he is the identical James Hatcher who enlisted in Captain Simeon Perry's company Calhare's regiment, Mt. ___(?) brigade ... Sept 1812 and was honorably discharged at Greenville Tenn, in Spring 1814, that he, at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States, adhered to the cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid or comfort, or exercised the functions of any office whatever under any authority, or pretended authority, in hostility to the United States; that he will support the Constitution of the United States; that he is not in receipt o a pension under any previos act; that he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the act approved February 14, 1871, and he hereby contitutes and appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation Hyman Levin of St Louis, his true and lawful attorney to prosecute his claim and procure the issuance of a pension certificate to him. That in the year 1872 I resided in Jefferson county Kansas, that I was personally acquainted with James Hatcher who then resided in said county and who was a pensioner of the United States - that said James Hatcher died in said county on the 30th day of November 1872. and I was present in the room when he died and saw him die and that his body was brought to Rockford Township, Pottawattamie county and buried there.
